Buzz is great, but Innovation only impacts you when you can get on-board
In the past few months, the buzz and “buzzword-use” of AI has almost become deafening. And when you have an effective AI software innovation, the buzz can turn into a confusing distraction for those seeking real solutions. So, I try and explain it like this…
Airplanes.
When Wilbur and Orville pulled-off their successful maned-flight demonstration, humanity's dreams became a trajectory of realistic application of this new innovation. But for a long time, flight was for the few. Sure, you could send a piece of mail on a plane, but for the majority of humans, their feet stayed on the ground.
It wasn't until planes grew big enough to add seats, that people (beyond pilots) were able to experience and benefit from the innovation of the airplane. To this day, I still marvel when I see antique travel posters of the “flying boats” that first braved the journey across the oceans.
You see, airplanes were great, but they weren't a life-changing innovation until one could land in front of you and you were invited to come aboard.
It's the same with the “buzz of AI”… there are so many things being talked about and flying around about what AI “could be”. But your medical writing efforts won't be impacted until you discover an innovation that has LANDED and you can personally experience it.
